Take Your Own Professional-Looking Cake Smash Pictures at Your Baby's Birthday Party
Nosotros just celebrated Little Sister's first birthday! Nosotros had a sweetheart political party for our little sweetheart on Valentines Twenty-four hour period with both of our families. It was lovely.
I have always loved the look of professional person cake smash photos, simply felt that it is a lilliputian unnecessary when kiddos normally take cake at their birthday party too. We decided to combine the two together and just have her eat her cake at her birthday political party! We fabricated a mini homemade studio and had our family gather round for the fun event! :)
1)Accept your party during the twenty-four hours. We chose to take Little Sis's birthday political party at 10:30 am. It worked out perfectly equally we served brunch and we were able to wake her upwards from her morning nap once our family arrived then she was well-rested. There was likewiseenough of sunlight, which will take a dramatic effect on the photos.
2) Find the low-cal. Find an open surface area in your abode (or wherever y'all have the political party) with lots of windows. Or if the weather is overnice, become exterior! All of our babies were born in the winter months, so we didn't have that selection. The place where nosotros chose to do Little Sister'southward block blast was in our living room with lots of windows simply no direct sunlight.
If you are doing it in a room with direct sunlight, you can apply a cheap white shower drape liner to lengthened the light.
three) Make your own backdrop. My husband used some beadboard from the dollhouse bookcase he made terminal year and old trim from some other home project to make a properties. We secured the back of it to the stairs with some rope and screws. It literally took well-nigh 20 minutes from start to finish. Due to fourth dimension limitations (and sheer laziness), nosotros chose not to pigment and dealt with the scuffs on the beadboard and trim.
I too purchased a driblet mat that looked similar a barn floor that I am already planning to use for a variety of purposes (including photos for the web log).

If you have to utilise a wink, consider using an external flash (I take this one) or at least a wink bouncer.
five)Make sure people are not continuing in front of your light source. I didn't practise a very good job of this and we had some shadows in our pictures from people standing between the window and Little Sis. I'm not the bossy type, but I might gently ask people to stand up to one side :)
6) Start snapping!
Afterward yous're washed cleaning up, utilize your mini studio to take some photos not involving a cake! :)
